Tudhope Cartage Ltd. is committed to safety. Appropriately we approach all aspects of our transportation services with safety in the forefront and have made every effort to reflect this philosophy in our employee handbook, manuals, and daily routines.

Tudhope Cartage Ltd. has "on-board" truck computers on all units owned or operated, and utilize this system to continuously monitor and ensure the safe operation of our equipment. Safety is the cornerstone of our preventative maintenance program, and our drivers perform visual inspections of our units on every trip.

The Senior Management of Harmac Transportation approves the annual Safety Program and our management team reviews the program monthly. From an organizational standpoint, we have established key positions to address various safety issues across the company. Program implementation is the responsibility of our full-time Safety Officer. Some of the program's activities include:

  • Annual "ride check" of drivers - review of loading/unloading protocols and defensive driving techniques.
  • Annual fire and spill training for all staff.
  • Annual driver M.T.O. profile and quarterly driver abstract review.
  • Annual review with Insurance Carrier of risk management and claims control procedures.
  • Quarterly Safety and Informational meetings for drivers, maintenance and administration staff to review safety targets and objectives and performance.
  • Monthly review at all terminals by health and safety representatives.
  • Monthly monitoring of all drivers certifications and update of records database.
  • Monthly work incident report outlining incident type, location, root cause, cost and corrective action.
  • Daily monitoring for hours of work, trip standards and speed.
  • Liaison with Petroleum companies on all delivery site investigations.
  • Coordination, preparation, distribution, and updating of delivery site diagrams.

Tudhope Cartage Ltd. has established safety performance measures with customers at contract initiation. They include target goals for preventable incidents including: spills, mixes vehicle accidents and personal injuries. Actual performance versus targets are reviewed quarterly.

In summary, Tudhope Cartage Ltd. puts safety first. Nothing is more important than the safety of our employees, our equipment and the public. We will commit to do everything possible to reduce the chances of accidents and injuries.
